I am a minister, photographer, retreat leader, author and Quaker -- albeit one who's not always good at being a good Quaker. I am the author of "Awaken Your Senses," "Holy Silence: The Gift of Quaker Spirituality," "Mind the Light: Learning to See with Spiritual Eyes" and "Sacred Compass: The Path of Spiritual Discernment" (foreword by Richard Foster). This blog is a compendium of writing, photography, seriousness and silliness -- depending on my mood.

These benches look so uncomfortable. Did you actually sit on them?
@ Robin -- yes, I have, though not on this occasion. I shot this through the old wavy glass window. The benches are not as quite as uncomfortable as they look, actually. The addition of a pad would be helpful, though!
Hello Brent. I have some ancestors who attended church at Sugar Grove and are buried in the cemetery there. I kinda feel the church is an extended part of my family.
I've got to say though, while cushions would be nice, I'm sure the older Quakers back then would have scoffed at the idea.
The bench pews at Fairfield are quite comfortable. I've not been in the old Sugar Grove meeting house yet.
:)
